Simon is a multi award-winning wedding, portrait and editorial photographer based just south of Norwich on the Norfolk / Suffolk border, UK. He was given his first camera aged 8 and has been taking pictures ever since. After earning an Honours Degree in AV Media Production from Cumbria Institute for the Arts he worked in a variety of creative fields. These included video camera/lighting and sound for an independent film production company and project managing the design and build of bespoke sculptural installations for museums, nightclubs and leading visitor attractions.
In January 2006, after a stint with a commercial photographic studio, he was motivated to go it alone. He quit on a Friday and started Simon Buck Photography on the following Monday. Four weeks later he qualified as a Licentiate of The British Institute of Professional Photography.
Simon travels widely for his work shooting weddings across the UK and Europe. 2012 will see him not only shoot many weddings in Norfolk and Suffolk but for the first time in Ireland as well as returning to Lake Garda in Italy. Editorial and PR commissions have taken him as far as Hawaii, California, North Africa and Europe.
To keep life interesting he likes to ‘dabble’ in travel, landscape and surf photography but his real passion lies in capturing people. He continues to develop his style influenced by the industry’s leading wedding and portrait practitioners, classic art and modern, high quality editorials. Simon considers it a privilege to be asked to cover somebody’s wedding day.
Oh, and he still photographs pets….occasionally!
Simon likes: surfing, travelling with his wife, playing with his dog (chess mainly), good beer, drumming, fun people and loud 90’s American rock music (and dreams of shooting Pearl Jam and RHCP one day…)
Simon dislikes: wet wetsuits, supermarket shopping, hangovers, feral cats, and discourtesy at all levels.
