Samantha & Tim’s Wedding at St Mary’s, Wiveton and Voewood, Norfolk (wedding photographers norfolk)

Samantha’s account of the day follows the photos below…

WHERE WAS IT? We had always planned that we were going to get married at Tim’s family church, St Marys at Wiveton. We searched high and low for the venue and just as we thought we would never find it, we went to look at Voewood and we knew it was perfect. It offered us everything we were looking for, stunning gardens, fantastic hall, different rooms for people to explore and somewhere our guests could stay.

THE THEME/STYLE: Hoping for a glorious spring day we bravely opted for a vintage garden party theme. We wanted to encapsulate the nature and the outdoors. The stunning gardens and terrace of  Voewood allowed us to bring the outdoors in. Inadvertently we also incorporated butterflies in to some aspect of the wedding reflecting the Butterfly shape of the house too.  We opted for a natural, pastel colour theme including mainly hues of greens and whites, with a touch of pink to soften and add more of a country garden feel.

BRIDE’S DRESS: It took me a long time to find my dress but eventually I found the one for me in La Creme Norwich. It was a  strapless full lace dress designed by Pronovias. I could not recommend the shop more.

JEWELLERY/ACCESSORIES: Tim bought me some beautiful Thomas Sabo earrings for the day. Myself and the bridemaids wore hair combs from Glitzysecrets.com, they had an excellent selection to fit the vintage theme for the day.

HAIR: Emily from Example in Norwich came out to the venue on the day to do my hair as well as the bridesmaids and Mum’s hair.

MAKEUP: We had the pleasure of Hannah and Dominique who work for Defining Radiance Make up Artists from Thorndon visit the venue on the day to do Mum’s, bridesmaids and my make up. The girls were lovely and made us all feel at ease (especially the Mums) on the day, we were all delighted with our look.

BRIDESMAIDS DRESSES: We had lovely thyme maxi dresses from Coast. I loved the free flowing light weight material.

WEDDING RINGS: Tim had my engagement ring custom made for me at the jewellers his family have always used, Lanes of Holt. It seemed only fitting to purchase our wedding rings from there too.

GROOM/GROOMSMEN’S ATTIRE/COLOURS: Tim opted for a Charcoal suit with Apple Green cravat, whilst the best man and ushers had champagne coloured cravats. These were supplied by John Field’s, Norwich.

FLOWERS:  Mary from Margaret Emms arranged all the flowers including the stunning displays in the church and the venue. I was blown away with the service that she provided. Mary ensured that we got exactly the style that we were after, she really did go the extra mile and made sure we got some beautiful flowers for our budget. Thanks to Chris also from Margaret Emms who leant us her array of Wedgewood vases for the table displays.

RECEPTION DÉCOR DETAILS: Voewood really spoke for itself with it’s fabulous arts and crafts style, and themed rooms, we really did not want to take away from this so just added flowers to the ground floor.

CAKE:  Michelle from Vanilla Patisserie in Saxmundham made our three tied cake. We chose to have each tier with a different flavour. She also made sure that the colours and flowers fitted in with our green theme. She also catered for allergies by providing them with their own individual cakes. Tim’s mum also made us a beautiful Fruit cake to keep in line with tradition which went down equally well.

STATIONERY/INVITATIONS:  Fleur from I do Wedding designs in Norwich provided us with all our stationary from Save the Dates, Order of Service, Table Plan all the way through to Thank-you cards. Everyone has commented upon the quality and design, she too encapsulated our theme including our colours and butterflies on the design. She was incredibly prompt and organised which was a great help to us.

FOOD & DRINKS:  All the food and drink was arranged by Rebecca and Steve from Bespoke at The Crown in Woodbridge. Rebecca was amazing, it was like having a wedding planner on the day and days leading up to the wedding.  The quality of food was outstanding, we opted for canapés and  a sit down style buffet meal followed by a chactuerie of cheeses and meats in the evening.  They really did exceed our expectations, the service was truly impeccable with the guests never having an empty glass.

FURNITURE/CROCKERY/etc David from Banquet Hire organised all the equipment needed for us and the caterers. He also went out of his way to source chair ties to match our colour scheme.

HONEYMOON:  We requested holiday vouchers from Thomas Cook rather than presents or a gift list. We have recently booked to go to Cuba in the Summer.

EXTRA DETAILS. For an extra touch we arranged for a Harpist, Xenia Horne  to play at the church and then the venue upon arrival of the guests and through dinner. We also arranged for Addison’s Uncle to play a couple of acoustic sets on the terrace during the afternoon and evening. We must also thank John our DJ from Mr Music who played a range of music keeping both the younger and the older guest entertained and dancing in to the early hours.

WEDDING SONGS/FIRST DANCE: We went for an unconventional song choice of the Foo Fighters and their acoustic version of Everlong, as it has a special meaning to us both. To avoid any uncomfortable shuffles we also had a little help from Donna Poole

A MEMORABLE MOMENT: There were so many, but for Tim it was the vows, for me it was going off after the church ceremony to have some coastal shots just the two of us. It was lovely just to take a bit of time out together as the day flew past.

IF I COULD RE-DO ANY WEDDING-RELATED PLANS IT WOULD BE: Nothing, we planned the wedding together and as we both wanted the same which made it a lot easier. We were determined to get the day we wanted and the hard work was worth it. It took a lot of time and effort to research the correct suppliers, but putting our trust in them was well worth while.

BEST ADVICE FOR PLANNING A WEDDING/TO BRIDES:  Give yourself plenty of time to organise your wedding and do your research. The day goes very quickly and it is a lot to take in so remember,  having memorable pictures and a video is a great way to remember all of it. Trust those around you to help the day run smoothly, that way you can relax and enjoy it fully.
