Beth & Stephen – St Mary’s, Denton & Wash Cottage

A few things about Beth & Steve’s wedding as told by Beth:

WHERE: My parents have lived at Wash Cottage since the day they returned from their honeymoon, so Denton was the obvious choice. We had the service at the charming church of St Mary’s and then back to my parents’ house for a marquee reception in the bunting filled garden that my Dad had been lovingly pruning and preening since the day we told him we’d got engaged.

THEME/STYLE: As Denton is such a village affair the ‘village fete’ theme came to us quite easily, though it took some time to persuade Steve to love bunting as much as me!! We named tables after traditional fete stalls and tried to match them as closely as we could to the groups – hence the ushers sitting at the ‘Beer Tent’ and my work friends at ‘Splat-the-Teacher’!

BRIDE’S DRESS: I was super lucky and found my dress in the 1st and only shop I looked. It was a Pronovias dress and I absolutely adored it. Contrary to expectations it had quite a train, but hey, you only get to wear a swishy dress once!

JEWELLERY/ACCESSORIES: Steve proposed to me on Mont Blanc in France last year, so when I saw a pearl bracelet named after the mountain it was meant to be. As a surprise I asked Jason, Steve’s Best Man, to deliver a pair of Mont Blanc cufflinks to him just before the ceremony so that we both had momentos of the romantic moment.

GROOM/GROOMSMEN: Steve, his Best Man and ushers wore traditional Morning Dress - complete with Windsor knotted tie and buff waistcoat. The ushers. Spencer, Harry, Johnny and Steve were legends – and all followed their typed, highlighted itenerary to the letter!! Jason did a top job as best man and gave a cracking speech - some of my favourite photos are when Simon captured our cringing and laughter!

CAKE: My sister will kill me for this, but Steve and I both agree that Mum made her best cake creation yet!! It was a stunning 3-tiered fruit cake with vibrant country flowers cascading down. Every single petal and leaf was hand made out of sugar and we were overwhelmed by all the work that went into it. Thanks Mum!!

A MEMORABLE MOMENT: Our day was jam-packed with memorable moments, but without a doubt our most special moment was an inpromptu speech given by Steve’s children, Hannah and Ethan. Their words meant so much to both of us and left very few dry eyes in the marquee!

These are amazing photos Simon!

I came across your website by chance and whilst browsing though, I saw these photos and realised that they were of a very old school friend…I knew Beth from Earsham Primary School so before our Bungay school days! It was lovely to see the photos of Beth’s special day, you look like you captured it perfectly.
