Louise & Rob’s Welsh Castle Wedding 9th July 2010, Bodelwyddan, Denbighshire

Every once in a while I escape the confines of East Anglia and get to experience some truly unique venues. A couple of weeks ago I left the familiar climes of Norfolk to drive across the country to cover Louise and Rob’s wedding at  the majestic Bodelwyddan Castle near Rhyl in N.Wales. From a photographer’s point of view this is a great place to shoot a wedding. From the imposing fairy tale castle exterior to the museum interior full of antique and medieval artefacts I was like a child in a sweet shop. I love that feeling when you turn up to a venue and know you’re going to run out of time because of all the possibilities available. Despite the threat of rain we escaped the bad weather that seemed to be surrounding us on all sides allowing us to make the most of the fantastic backdrop. Louise is the sister of a good friend ours and Rachel and I had been invited to join the wedding as guests for the evening. We were made to feel like part of the family and had a great time although the pro’ inside me didn’t really stop working all night. As the music finished and people thought about heading home the castle floodlights came on giving me an obvious chance for that final shot. I love these moments, the perfect end to a wonderful day!
