NEWS UPDATE - September 2007
JUST ANNOUNCED! Winner of Award of Excellence and double finalist in the British Professional Photography Awards 2007.
I have just been notified that I'm a finalist in two categories and winner of an Award of Excellence in British Professional Photography Awards 2007. The Award of Excellence is for one of my wedding pictures taken this year entered into the Dennis Hylander Wedding Award. The second is a surfing image entered in the Illustrative/Pictorial category of the Licenciate Award. The awards are amongst the most prestigious in the world and it's a real thrill to have been shortlisted. Needless to say this is great news and a massive confidence boost especially as it's the first competition I've ever entered. The overall winners will be announced at the end of October so fingers crossed! Click here for Eastern Daily Press article.

Also winner of two Merit Awards in the Illustrative & Pictorial and Events categories.
New website in development.
We (that is James, my long suffering webmaster, and I) have decided that it's time for a bit of a facelift. This site will be two years old in February so it's about time it stepped up a gear. Along with a cleaner, sleeker appearance there will be lots more, brand new (and, in my opinion, higher quality) images on show. All input from clients is valued with any ideas about what you'd like to see/be able to do welcomed. Just drop me a line through the usual channels.
Latest work
The wedding season has peaked and I now have only a few left before Christmas. Congratulations to all the couples I have worked for this year and I wish you all the best for the future. Remember I am also available for family portraits, when the time is right, of course!
An ongoing commission for TWGaze and Son has kept me very busy of late. They now have a large stock of profile, location and commercial images to illustrate their rebrand and new website which, in my opinion, is looking very nice indeed.
A big "Hello" and "Welcome" to new clients Edson Evers. They asked me to visit a local fire station to shoot promotional pictures for a client who supplies equipment to the fire and rescue service. My thanks go to the retained crew who were extremely welcoming and kept the tea flowing. I came away with some fantastic results thanks to their cooperation although I think they secretly enjoyed playing up to the camera, cheers guys!
The long awaited article on legendary surfboard shaper and design pioneer Malcolm Campbell (Campbell Brothers Surfboards) is in its final editorial stages. During the course of writing the piece I had the privilege of interviewing Rob Machado, Taylor Knox and Dan Malloy. This won't mean much to those of you who don't surf but to those who do.....I needn't say anything more! For more examples of my surf photography click here to visit my page on magicseaweed.com.
The new Broadland Guards website designed by Transmit Creative has gone live and is garnished with images from the shoot back in the spring. Good luck to Jon Dale and the team at transmit who are soon moving into swanky new offices in Barnsley.
I continue to document the coming's and going's at Henham Park having just attended the annual 33rd Steam Rally. Congratulations to Hektor who has recently had planning approved to develop a brand new hotel and leisure complex on the old Henham Hall site. This is great news for both the Park and local business and along with the Latitude Festival, Steam Rally and Wings and Wheels will undoubtedly raise the estate's profile even further. Before all that excitement though, it's rutting season. I'll be using the opportunity to get up close (but not too personal) with the park's elusive fallow deer. I will be packing my antler-proof vest just in case though.
By the time I next update this section it will hopefully be on a new-look site so watch this space and don't forget to drop me a line if you have any queries.
Simon.
